Performing Arts Residency

Translucent glass sculpture against a clean minimal background

ESC was built to give artists time and room to experiment. Dancers, filmmakers, musicians, writers and choreographers apply year-round for the Performing Arts Residency: focused weeks to go deep into your work, away from external expectations and distractions.

The space itself is a minimalist hybrid of studio and office, set in the mountains near the Mediterranean. It was designed to keep distraction to a minimum: an open floor that invites the body and mind to move freely and think further.

The amenities include digital workstations, a sound system, dancefloor, projector, cameras and fast internet, so you can dive into your project with the essential tools at hand.

The studio sits between two nature reserves. Residents can head out to hiking trails, a lake and white-sand beaches; the landscape becomes part of the working material.

Discover Your Rhythm and Pace

Maybe you want to refine your technique, maybe to test ideas you have not had room for. Either way, you set the rhythm. Beyond individual work, the residency brings together artists from different disciplines: brainstorming sessions, shared rehearsals and interdisciplinary projects grow out of daily contact.

Collaboration Across Disciplines

Artists from different backgrounds trade perspectives and working methods. Side by side in the same building, ideas tend to appear that would not come from working alone.

Room for Your Career to Move

Time at the residency is also time for the practical side: mapping where your work could go next, and leaving with a clearer sense of the steps that get it there.

The residency works as a canvas, a rehearsal room and a stage at once. Performing artists use the space for:

  1. Rehearsals and Workshops: fine-tune choreography, run scenes or test new techniques in an adaptable studio.
  2. Collaborative Projects: shared rehearsals and interdisciplinary work with artists from other fields.
  3. Retreats and Residencies: on-site accommodation in quiet surroundings, so you can stay inside the work without interruption.

Whether you are rehearsing, performing, collaborating or simply thinking, the space supports the whole arc of the work.

Residencies at a glance

  • Stays run from April to October, when Sardinia is at its best.
  • Residencies last one to two weeks — long enough to sink into the work, short enough to keep momentum elsewhere.
  • We host a maximum of two artists at a time, so the space, the studio and our full attention are yours.
  • Your stay includes the studio flat, set in the quiet of an agricultural area a short walk from the sea; workspace, tools and feedback are part of the deal.
  • Rates are simple and all-inclusive — write to us with a few lines about your practice and we will send the details.
